Coverage cards / health accounts
Can my health account help pay?
If you have money in a health account, ask which bills it can pay. Check its rules separately from insurance.
What makes a weight-care expense count?
HSA is short for health savings account. FSA means health flexible spending account. Both hold money set aside for medical bills before tax is taken out.
The IRS, the US tax agency, said in September 2026 that weight-care spending can qualify when treating a specific disease diagnosed by a doctor.
A wish to improve general health does not meet that test by itself.
Ask the person or company that manages your account about the exact bill and the records it needs.

Who asks for a medical-need letter?
As of September 2026, the IRS did not require a letter with the title “letter of medical necessity.”
The person or company that manages your account may ask for a doctor’s letter explaining why you need the care.
Keep the bill showing each charge and what care you received. Before paying, ask the person managing the account whether a doctor’s letter is also needed.

A bill shows what you paid for; a doctor’s letter explains why you needed it. Ask the person managing the account which papers to send.
Does an account change the drug’s status?
As of September 28, 2026, FDA, the US drug agency, had approved neither cagrilintide nor CagriSema, which adds another medicine, semaglutide.
At that date, FDA also said pharmacies could not mix or make their own cagrilintide medicine.
An account-payment claim does not answer the product question. Check the product and the expense separately.
