Cost cards / labs

Will I need to pay for blood tests?

Ask what the test is for before comparing its price. A bigger bundle is not a clearer answer.

Are tests required for every prescription?

As of September 2026, general federal prescribing rules did not require blood tests before every prescription.

Your medicine, your health and your state’s rules may still mean you need tests.

Medical boards recommend that your doctor arrange tests or a visit in person when a screen visit is not enough.

This recommendation is not a law. The rules your doctor must follow come from your state.

How can I compare lab quotes?

Ask for the test names and the full amount due. Then ask these questions:

  • Is the blood draw included?
  • Is there a separate fee for ordering the test?
  • Can recent results answer the same question?
  • Is reviewing the results part of the visit fee?
  • Will the test use insurance or be charged as cash?

As of September 26, 2026, advertised lab packages contained different tests. Some services charged extra to order them.

Compare the contents, not just the bundle name.

What needs checking during approved care?

Wegovy contains semaglutide, a different medicine from cagrilintide. Its instructions name blood-sugar checks for people with diabetes and kidney checks when vomiting or diarrhea can cause fluid loss.

Ask the doctor or other health professional prescribing your medicine which checks fit your health and how they will be billed.

Ask about the tests for your exact medicine. Wegovy’s September 2026 instructions do not give a testing plan for cagrilintide.
