A closer look / reported problems

What problems showed up in studies?

Keep the trial drug and the online offer apart. A trial tells us about the product studied in that trial.

What happened with cagrilintide alone?

Stomach or bowel problems affected 41% to 63% of people in a 26-week cagrilintide trial, depending on strength.

On the comparison shot, which had no trial medicine, these problems affected 32%.

Feeling sick, constipation, diarrhea and reactions where the injection was given were among the common problems.

These findings describe the drug studied. They do not verify what is in a product offered online.

The comparison shot is a placebo: it does not contain the trial medicine.

What happened with the combination?

CagriSema combines cagrilintide with another medicine, semaglutide, the ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy.

REDEFINE 1 was a 68-week study of CagriSema. Stomach or bowel problems affected 79.6% of people on CagriSema and 39.9% on a shot containing no study medicine.

Most were temporary and mild or moderate, but that does not make them trivial for the person having them.

As of September 28, 2026, neither cagrilintide nor CagriSema had FDA-approved instructions for use. FDA is the US drug agency.

That leaves no FDA-reviewed guidance for pregnancy or use with other medicines.

Ask your doctor or other treating health professional what these side effects could mean for your health and other medicines.

What if someone needs urgent help?

A severe allergic reaction is a medical emergency. It can make breathing difficult or cause the face or tongue to swell.

MedlinePlus advises people showing severe signs of an allergic reaction to dial 911 or seek care at an emergency room.

Medicine problems can also be reported by patients through FDA’s MedWatch service.

An emergency needs urgent care; reporting a problem is a separate step.
